My take on Automovill – Hyderabad

This is the article that I want to write for a long time like 2 months back but didn’t get the time to write. You know busy schedules but finally, I have made my time to write about Automovill no matter what.

Let me start with how I have found Automovill. I am into performance and I like fast cars which can be modified, flexible to performance. I have come across the Chevrolet Cruze of my friend planning to sell. Usually, we should buy these kinds of cars with a very good examination of everything. As he was my friend, I took knowing all its complaints and everything. I have used that car earlier too. I wanted to give a car for complete service, and I am a very peculiar guy when it comes to automobiles.

After a lot of research, I have decided to give Automovill a try because in Hyderabad I have felt that is better than other garages. The decision that I regret even to date.

Booking and service

I have booked my service on 16th September 2019 and its not a home pick up. I don’t want to mention any names here. As their mechanics were busy, I have gone to give vehicle and realized that it was not their own garage but a partnership with a garage called ‘Flag Autocare’. Automovill typically finds the garage which can give good margin and ties up with them. I have seen a BMW and another Cruze getting serviced there so I decided to give them for service.

Proceeding further I have mentioned all the things that need to be done on the vehicle to Automovill guy. There is absolutely no communication between Flag AutoCare guy and me. He just took the car and his notepad to write down complaints and asked me to continue communicating with Automovill. He didn’t even take a test ride and after 2 hours it’s like almost 1 PM they have taken a test ride and here is the transcript.

The complaints they have mentioned.

Let me talk one by one

Engine oil: They have told me that they have kept either 5W30 or 5W40 but later confirmed that 5W40 which is the grade recommended by Chevrolet but nowhere they have mentioned anything about the grade. Except for oral confirmation, I didn’t find any proof that they have kept 5W40 grade engine oil in that.

I have asked them personally use engine oil flush for flushing but they haven’t used. Even if they have used I don’t see it in the bill so which says that they haven’t used it.

Indicator bulb: They didn’t install the indicator bulb. I have complained to them again and after a few hours, their mechanic came and took car to their garage to fit the indicator bulb.

Wheel alignment: car runs on tyres why to worry about wheels they didn’t do it.

Here is the conversation with Automovill

Door squeezing sound has not been resolved. They are saying that it takes time but not saying how much time it’s gonna take and for everything flag AutoCare guys are not even saying anything to me. They are asking me to contact Automovill guys. You have only one point of contact through which you have to talk no mechanic, or any guy talks to you regarding time or price.

Just after waiting 4 hours in the garage (for wheel alignment) that’s what they have said I got my car delivered.

Took U-turn, waited for 30 seconds at the signal and took left turn. Bham!

Engine temperature at its peak luckily this didn’t happen in the peak traffic area. As the car was still moving, I have managed to park it aside without any effect on the traffic.

I popped the hood and realized all my coolant was evaporated. Soon, no so soon garage guys came after 45 minutes even just its hardly 500 meters away.

Mechanics (teens) poured water into coolant container to make the car move till the garage.

Once we reached the garage, they have found that the real culprit is coolant container which is having a leak at its hose but I haven’t faced this issue when I drove from Rajahmundry to Hyderabad just two days earlier but don’t know how it appeared suddenly and strangely.

Here comes the worst part. My friend is in hospital I need to drop her at the airport, and it is raining cats and dogs. Bingo! After lots of arguments, they have agreed to put the other Cruze container in my Cruze and buy a new part for it and I have paid the price of a new part for the old part. Situation demand. I don’t know whether they played some game or what but either way everything was roller costal ride with Automovill.

After two days I have taken the vehicle to the showroom for suspension and while examining they have told me that there is no issue with mounting bed and clutch. Clutch was a new one which was replaced before 5000km.

General service experience with Automovill

Regarding general service, these are the things they have done as per the bill and communication that has gone between me and Automovill

  • Engine oil
  • Oil filter
  • Air filter
  • Coolant
  • Distilled water
  • Screenwash
  • Wiper blades
  • Indicator bulb
  • Car wash: they never really washed the vehicle.
  • Wheel alignment: I have tested three times and the third time they have made it good.

These are things they didn’t do.

  • AC gas is out but they didn’t check.
  • Cabin filter has trees growing but they didn’t even look at it.
  • Diesel filter: I think they don’t care about the filter and if we complain about the smoke, they might say that fuel is bad.
  • Coolant container: As I have already told you about coolant container. They have argued with me that the coolant container is already damaged earlier but they didn’t inform me regarding that.
  • Brake pads: they are good, but the rotors are gone. When I am braking at high speeds the steering wheel is having vibration because of uneven wear of brake rotors.
  • Screenwash: They have charged screenwash 100 I don’t know why. Let’s say if the windshield is cleaned which comes under car wash so leave that. If they have added windshield wash liquid, then I am getting a concentrate for INR.250 and these people charged me INR.100 just for one fill.

Washing: I am getting full thick foam wash with waxing, interior plastic and leather protection, vacuuming and engine bay cleaning done for INR.350 and these people have charged me INR.472 and didn’t clean interiors. I don’t have pics to post but literally I was having so much tight schedule, so I don’t want to argue with them, and I didn’t take it in that serious way but still, they have to do it when they charge for it.

The final verdict on Automovill

Before concluding I just want to say this is my experience. There might be many people who are very happy with the service provided by Automovill, but I have shared my experience.

This is the business model of Automovill. They will find some garage and tie up with them doesn’t matter whether they are good or not. Automovill has a really good digital marketing team which creates really good content regarding automobiles, but I didn’t find their garages as passionate as their digital marketing team.

Automovill provides the service but they don’t care whether you are getting good service or not. While you are pampering your car there is a teenage mechanic guy ripping your engine to top speed on ORR we just don’t know. Very inexperienced staff.
